Shipping/Ports
The City of Texas City has several port advantages with its own privately-operated port within the city limits, the Galveston Port across the Causeway Bridge connecting Texas City to Galveston, and the Houston Port Authority's multiple ports within minutes of driving time to the north on SH 146.

The Texas City Port is located immediately off the Houston Ship Channel at the main entry to the Houston Ship Channel. It is the 9th largest deep water port in the U.S. and getting deeper. The Texas City Ship Channel is in the process of being deepened to a depth of 45 maintained feet (roughly 49 feet of total depth).

The Houston Ship Channel is 45 feet in depth too and beyond the Texas City Channel, allowing the larger ships full advantage of the depth. Located at the entrance to the Houston Ship Channel, the Texas City Port can save up to two days of travel compared to other ports located along the Houston Ship Channel.

The Texas City Terminal Railway operates with a dba name of the Texas City Port and can work with any company on questions concerning the port and its activities.
